2.  **Send the location request** by SMS or messenger.

## What a cell phone location lookup can’t do

A number lookup reads the public numbering plan. It can tell you **+1 is the US or Canada**, that a number is mobile rather than landline, and sometimes the original carrier. It can’t tell you which street the phone is on — that information belongs to the phone’s owner and, for police, to the carrier under a court order. Anyone selling “cell phone location lookup by number” without the owner’s involvement is overselling.
